FA Cup Expected Goals (xG): Arsenal vs. Liverpool
Liverpool Edges Arsenal in Close-Fought FA Cup Tie
Arsenal Fails to Capitalize on Chances
Liverpool overcame Arsenal 2-0 in a thrilling FA Cup Fourth Round clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Despite dominating possession and creating the better chances, Arsenal were ultimately punished for their profligacy in front of goal. Liverpool, on the other hand, made the most of their opportunities, with an own goal from Jakub Kiwior and a late strike from Luis Diaz sealing the victory for the Reds.
The match was evenly contested in the early stages, with both teams having their chances. Arsenal had the first real opportunity when Bukayo Saka's shot was blocked by Joe Gomez in the 15th minute. Liverpool responded with a chance of their own minutes later, but Trent Alexander-Arnold's free kick was tipped over the bar by Aaron Ramsdale.
Arsenal continued to dominate possession and create chances, but they struggled to find the breakthrough. Martin Odegaard came close to giving the Gunners the lead in the 25th minute, but his shot was saved by Alisson Becker. Eddie Nketiah also had a good chance in the 30th minute, but he headed Saka's cross over the bar.
