Established in 1977, the Lola ya Bonobo sanctuary has served as a haven for bonobo orphans that have lost their mothers to the cruelties of illegal hunting. Over the years, the Wilhelma has welcomed 41 bonobo babies into the world, offering them a safe and nurturing environment to thrive.
