Mega Millions is offering its second billion-dollar jackpot of the year, just six months after a South Carolina man won a record-breaking $1.537 billion prize in October 2022.
The jackpot has been growing since it was last won on September 15, 2023, and has now reached an estimated $1.02 billion, with a cash option of $754.6 million.
Ticket sales have already surpassed $1 billion, and they are expected to increase as the drawing nears.
According to Mega Millions, participating lotteries have seen sales surpassing $1 billion for only the fourth time in its history.
The previous billion-dollar jackpots were won in October 2022, July 2022, and January 2021.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
The drawing will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 11 p.m. ET.
Tickets are available for purchase in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
